Kazakhstan and Germany are set to deepen their economic ties following discussions between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin on September 29. The talks focused on enhancing bilateral relations, with a particular emphasis on economic collaboration in sectors such as investment, infrastructure, industry, and transport.

President Tokayev underscored Germany’s significance as Kazakhstan’s key strategic partner in Europe, noting the advancements made over the past thirty years in their bilateral relations. Highlighting the potential for increased cooperation, he proposed the establishment of a Kazakhstan-Germany Investment and Financial Platform aimed at bolstering joint projects and facilitating investments between the two nations.

During his visit, Tokayev also engaged with German business leaders to explore potential partnerships in areas including transport and logistics, industrial localization, engineering, metallurgy, and waste processing. These discussions covered the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, the modernization of railway infrastructure, and the expansion of manufacturing capabilities within Kazakhstan.

Both countries are examining opportunities for German companies to engage in industrial and infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan, which would also provide them access to the broader Central Asian market. This cooperation could prove mutually beneficial, leveraging Germany’s expertise in various industries and Kazakhstan’s strategic position in the region.
