Meanwhile, Congressional Progressive Caucus Chair Greg Casar took a different stance, urging lawmakers to back the amendment. Jeffries further emphasized the necessity for a “major reset” in U.S.-Israel relations. While affirming Israel’s right to exist, he also championed the establishment of a Palestinian state. He proposed that future U.S. military aid should adhere to human rights standards and reflect Israel’s capacity to shoulder more of its defense costs, underscoring the need for a balanced and principled approach to the alliance.
