This marks the first time the innovative technology will be operationally installed with the utility. The pilot aims to evaluate the system’s lighting performance, reliability, and adaptability to the coastal conditions of the site, providing crucial data to assess its suitability for broader applications.
Integrating multiple functionalities into a single lighting pole, the iLamp system features LED lighting, a 360-degree solar array, and battery storage. This design enables the system to generate and store electricity, allowing for autonomous operation independent of a traditional grid connection. Additionally, the platform offers edge-computing capabilities, allowing data generated by the equipment on the pole to be processed locally instead of relying solely on a centralized system.
Once installed, the pilot system will be closely monitored against specific technical and operational criteria established for the project. The Israel Electric Corporation will analyze the outcomes to decide on the feasibility of continuing or expanding the deployment.
