Türkiye has issued a strong condemnation of recent Israeli military actions in southern Syria, describing them as breaches of Syria’s sovereignty that pose a threat to the stability of the region. The strikes, which targeted areas in Quneitra and Daraa, were denounced by the Turkish Foreign Ministry as violations of Syria’s territorial integrity and international law, as well as the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement.
In a statement, Türkiye expressed concerns that these attacks could exacerbate the already dire humanitarian situation, endanger civilians, and undermine ongoing efforts to bring stability back to Syria. The Turkish government has called on the international community to intervene and work towards preventing further military actions that could escalate tensions in the volatile region.
Burhanettin Duran, Türkiye’s Communications Director, criticized the Israeli strikes, emphasizing that they jeopardize Syria’s security and hinder progress towards achieving enduring peace. He underscored the need for cooperation among nations to avert further destabilizing incidents.
