The Iranian government has firmly denied any involvement in the ongoing conflict in Yemen, maintaining that the Houthi forces act autonomously and are responsible for their own strategic decisions. Esmaeil Baghaei, a spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, emphasized that Tehran does not meddle in Yemeni affairs, dismissing accusations that link Iran to recent events concerning Saudi Arabia and Yemen. He noted that the roots of the conflict lie deep within Yemen itself.

In a related development, Baghaei confirmed the postponement of a much-anticipated meeting in Oman, which was to include Iran and Gulf countries. This delay occurred at the request of Saudi Arabia. The meeting had been organized to discuss issues pertaining to regional security and cooperation. Despite this setback, Baghaei assured that the Iran-Oman agreement on maritime routes in the strategic Strait of Hormuz had been successfully finalized, and both nations are now deliberating on the next steps forward.

Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi also commented on the situation, explaining that the regional meeting was postponed to foster a broader consensus. He reaffirmed Oman’s dedication to promoting dialogue, ensuring regional stability, and pursuing long-term cooperative efforts.

The discussions between Iran and Oman were expected to provide a platform for presenting their mutual understanding regarding the Strait of Hormuz, a vital maritime passage. Although the meeting has been delayed, the finalization of their bilateral agreement marks a significant achievement in their ongoing diplomatic engagements.
